Dr Mary Tomsic is an ARC Postdoctoral Research Associate researching visual representations of child refugees at The University of Melbourne. Her book Beyond the Silver Screen: A History of Women, Filmmaking and Film Culture in Australia 1920-1990 (MUP) will be published in October this year. Mary's teaching and research interests are in cultural history, film and history; historical representations in popular culture; Australian film culture and understandings of gender & sexuality. She is a co-convener of the Australian Women’s History Network and the Melbourne Feminist History Group.
